It is an acceptable fact that good health is not an automatic guarantee. It usually requires a continued effort of keeping active and maintaining a healthy diet. However, this is not the complete formula for good health. The bible says in Exodus 23:25: “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.”
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” Eccles. 3:1
I have learned that everything we experience in life has a purpose. We often go through things that we don’t quite understand the cause and effect of or why we are even going through it in the first place. However there is a purpose for it. And although that purpose may not be immediately realized, we must have the confidence that God is working all things out for our good.
“Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.” Psam 23:4
It is inevitable. In this life, at some point or another, we will be faced with some kind of adversity that will seem insurmountable. And when we are confronted with such matters, we will find ourselves becoming increasingly apprehensive and fearful, not knowing if we are going to even be able to overcome it. However, these are the times when we have to put our confidence in God. Yes, our strength may be small and we may be afraid of the unknown, but profess courage! Think positive thoughts. Positive thinking brings about positive results. God can and God will see you through!
“Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy health shall spring forth speedily.” Isaiah 58:8 Every one of us covets good health. In order to obtain good health we should strive to exercise daily, eat healthy and see our doctor on a regular basis. All these things are good. But there is one thing that should take precedence over all these things and that is the belief that God is ultimately the One responsible for keeping us healthy. The physicians of this world are some gifted and wonderful people whom God has given us to minister to our physical bodies to keep them healthy. However we must recognize that there is only one Great Physician who is able to keep us healthy physically, emotionally and spiritually. And we can look to Him to meet whatever that need is in our lives. Amen.
Faith is the glue that keeps the family together. Life is full of ups and downs, ins and outs. And oftentimes the negative occurrences that occur in our lives are out of our control and they have an adverse affect on the family unit. And without the presence of faith in a family, that family is left to endure the storms of life all by itself. And when the contrary winds begin to vehemently blow upon us, we usually find ourselves sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss of despair and discouragement. But let me encourage you today. It is not God’s will for that dwelling place of despair to be your permanent address. God has better things in store for you and your family. The psalmist David instructs us in Psalm 30, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy is coming in the morning.” By faith declare the promises of God over you and your family. And know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the best is yet to come!
In the coming weeks I am going to be sharing with you how God helped me to lay the foundation of success in my life and how that got me to the point where I am today. Please believe me when I say it was no easy task, not by the stretch of the imagination, but by faith in God I made it and you can too!
There are some basic biblical principles that you can apply to every area of your life and by doing so it will yield successful results. I will endeavor to show you how to systematically embrace the promises of God concerning your life and in doing so how it will enable you to come out a winner at the finish line. Because inherently you are a winner and you must believe that!
This series will be entitled, “Walking by Faith.” We will focus on how to exercise faith in five major areas of your life.
First we will look at how having faith in family affairs is essential to a happy family. All families have issues. No family is perfect. However we will see how you can effectively deal with your family issues simply by utilizing the faith of God in that family relationship.
Next we will look at how having faith in the workplace or in your career is vitally important. Your career is something that you will be connected to all of your life. A person usually is defined by their career choice. For something as important as this, you can’t afford to dismiss the component of faith in this area of your life.
Thirdly, we will discover how having faith in regards to your health can make a positive difference in your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Studies have shown that exercising faith in regards to your health is a very good thing. In fact the bible states in III John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in GOOD HEALTH, even as your soul prospers.” You can have confidence in knowing that God wants you to be healthy.
The fourth area that we are going to deal with is having faith in a time of crisis. This is probably one of the most difficult things to do. Why, because it often goes against the very grain of human rationale. Usually when you are in a crisis you are searching for answers of why is this happening and why is it happening to me. Faith in crisis may not present short-term answers to your questions, but it will render a peace of mind and the strength you need to go through that storm of life.
And lastly, we will embark upon having faith in God’s purpose for your life. Finding purpose in life can be extremely rewarding. However, as you begin to navigate your way down this meandering path called life, you will learn how challenging it can be to find your God-given purpose and then to walk in that purpose. Nevertheless, walking in your God-given purpose is possible and He will help to fulfill this task. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” Phillipians 1:6
So join me as we learn together what is it that inspires us to be best that we can be. To strive for greatness….to live a life of purpose!
